cologet The Itanium 2 is the successor to the Itanium processors. It is a 64-bit processor, however, it uses the IA-64 Architecture instead of the x64 Architecture used in most processors. This means it is not compatible with 64-bit applications and operating systems that are not designed with the Itanium processors in mind.
