NAS stands for network attached storage. Most consumer grade NAS boxes are embedded computers with IDE or SATA adapters, and large hard disk drives.
Some NAS boxes also support print servers, HTTP servers, SQL, ect.
Some NAS boxes also have USB or ESATA ports.
