VIA Technologies, Inc is a Taipei, Taiwan based computer electronics manufacturer. Their products include chipsets, processors, motherboards, and many other forms of IC.
Founded in 1987 in Fremont, California, VIA quickly became a market leading chipset manufacturer. In 1992, VIA relocated its headquarters to Taiwan to help foster business relations with the booming Taiwanese IC manufacturing market.

Accomplishments
VIA was the first core logic manufacture to produce a chipset with support for PC133 SDRAM, and repeated this trend with the introduction of DDR SDRAM.
In 1999, VIA acquired the microprocessor divisions of Cyrix and Centaur.
